Powder metallurgy technology has its unique advantages in gear manufacturing, but there are some difficulties, such as precision and hardness control, in the production of gears, due to the pressing and sintering need for human control of mechanical operation, the operating engineer becomes very important, engineers do not have a wealth of experience in manufacturing, the accuracy of the gears will be difficult to control.
Osweypm’s engineers briefly published a few suggestions to provide customers with reference (solutions):
- the material of the pressing mould must be high hardness stainless steel, the tolerance of the mould size needs to be accurate, and the use of advanced pressing equipment for production.
- Provide regular technical training for operating engineers to learn the latest powder metallurgy technology and apply it to the manufacturing process continuously. record the moulding parameters and technical guidelines for each product. all the records need to be strictly kept so that when difficulties are encountered, the guidelines can be referred to for quick solutions.
- The characteristics of powder metallurgy determine that there are many fine pores in the parts themselves. wrong operation during the sintering process can lead to shrinkage or expansion, and each stage of the sintering process needs to be recorded and kept to ensure that the timing of the sintering process is consistent.
- In the selection of raw materials, it is also necessary to consider a variety of factors to develop appropriate raw material formulations, according to different applications to develop different material formulations, in order to improve the physical properties of the product, and to ensure that the material meets the requirements of environmental protection, and endeavour to exceed the expectations of our customers!
